Opelu Surf School

Born and raised in Lahaina, Opleu is one of the original Maui Beach Boys and the founder of the Opelu surf school. He believes that learning to surf will broaden the knowledge of the Hawaiian culture and help spread the "aloha spirit".

Everyone will have plenty of time to surf and practice at his or her own pace. Our instructors are patient and passionate when it comes to teaching the ancient Hawaiian art of surfing. At all times during the lesson, your instructor will be there to coach you so you progress with every wave.

At the beginning of each lesson one of our knowledgeable instructors will present a detailed 15-20 minute demonstration on the beach of how to:

*Stay safe during your lesson
*Paddle out through the waves and how to use the channel
*Judge and paddle to catch a wave
* Where to position yourself to catch a wave, stand up and ride it!

Your surfing instructor will then take you out, guiding you into the line up where you will get some of the best rides of your life.
